A dead body was discovered Wednesday morning in Lake Tashmoo and state police are investigating.
State police Sgt. Jeffrey Stone said a person walking on the beach reported the discovery of the body of an older white male in the water at around 10 a.m.
Sergeant Stone said the police have identified the man but his family has not yet been notified. He said the man is not from the Island and he did not appear to be a fisherman or connected to the derby.
Sergeant Stone said the police are investigating, and there will be an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
