Rite of Spring, Right Whales Return to Vineyard Waters

Last week, a group of North Atlantic right whales was spotted during an aerial survey running from south of Nantucket heading west to the waters south of Rhode Island. A large aggregation of right whales was spotted on both March 13, just southwest and southeast of Aquinnah, and one right whale was spotted on March 16 due south of Squibnocket.
