Sen. Edward W. Brooke, the first African American elected to the U.S. Senate after Reconstruction and a longtime summer resident of Oak Bluffs, died Saturday at age 95. Senator Brooke, a Republican, served two terms in the U.S. Senate, from 1967 to 1979.
